Nungarin Attractions

Nungarin is an extremely accessible place to visit, with the town located only 300 kilometres from Perth via good quality sealed roads..

Nungarin Heritage Machinery and Army Museum  

The Nungarin Heritage Machinery and Army Museum in housed in an original massive Army Vehicle Workshop building constructed in Nungarin in 1942-43 as part of Australia's defense in WWII. The huge building was part of the No.5 Base Ordnance Depot (5BOD) which was considered to be the largest storage facility for Army Ordnance in Western Australia at that time, built at a total cost of approx. Ten million pounds. On show are/is:
  • A impressive 10th Light Horse collection dedicated to local WW1 hero Trooper Joseph William Spillman (a veteran of the Gallipoli and Palestine campaigns, and 1 of only 15 light horse men to have been awarded the Military Medal)
  • Dingo Scout Car
  • A Stuart Tank
  • Bren-Gun Carrier
  • Examples of military uniforms
  • Various Army vehicles and trucks
  • A large collection of photographs and other Memorabilia including "Trench Art"
It is open to the public Mon - Fri  9.00am - 4.00pm. Group tours are by arrangement. contact 9046 5040

These are free camp grounds..


Please remember these rules when camping:

Please put all rubbish in the bin.
 Please stay on the tracks due to endangered fauna and flora.
Bring your own fire wood.  Please don't go chopping trees and other plants down

Do not light fires when a fire ban is in place and if you do light a camp fire put it out before you leave.
